When Should You Have Your Roof Inspected?

The best thing to do is have your roof inspected twice a year – once in the fall and once in the spring. During the winter and summer, your roof is often subjected to harsh storms and extreme, constantly changing temperatures. This is why it’s important to have it checked out before the harsh weather moves in – you want to make sure it’s ready for the task!

What Does a Roof Inspection Reveal?

There are a number of things roofers look for when performing a roof inspection – problem areas that could cause major damage to your home if not caught early on! Some of the most common roofing problems include:

Leaks – leak detection is one of the most common reasons people call for roof inspections. Leaks can remain all but invisible for years before you start seeing the telltale signs – water spots, peeling paint, damaged wallpaper, etc. Unfortunately, by this time it may already be too late and you may have significant damage on your hands! Roof leaks can lead to a number of major problems, from mold and dry rot to buckling walls and damaged insulation.

Blisters – blisters are exactly what they sound like – raised areas on your roof, usually long and narrow, that are caused by trapped gas bubbles. Roof blisters are bad enough on their own, but moisture can sneak in and become trapped, eroding portions of your roof underneath, compromising its structural integrity, and causing other leak-associated damage.

Poor installation – one of the most common causes of severe roof damage, poor installation is often a consequence of going with a less experienced roofing contractor when you need a job done. Wrinkling, buckling, contraction, and other forms of damage, along with a drastically reduced lifespan, can all be attributed to poor installation jobs.
