Finding a reliable contractor is very important. Your roof is a huge investment for your home, and you want to make sure that anyone who touches your roof is trustworthy. Roofing scams have been around for as long as there have been roofers, but there are many reliable contractors on the market. And with a little research, it’s easy to find one.

• Ask whether your roofing contractor is licensed and insured.  A trustworthy contractor will be more than happy to answer your questions.

• Ask for references. A reliable roofing or home improvements contractor is proud of their work and always willing to provide references and reviews from past customers.

• Make sure to have a contract before you pay. Always have something in writing, and make sure you know what all is covered in the price.

• A reliable contractor will never use high pressure tactics or try to force you into signing paperwork. Make sure to take your time, and ask all your questions before signing on the dotted line.

Roofing contractors are an important ally in taking care of your home. Think of your inspection or first meeting with a contractor as a job interview: ask questions and make sure you’re comfortable with the services you’re receiving.
